Alphitonia Exceisa is commonly known as the Red Ash or Soap Tree. It’s a species of tree in the Rhamnaceae family.
It’s endemic to Australia being found in New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory and the Northern Eastern tip of WesternAustralia.
The Red Ash has a spreading shade producing habit when a large tree with overall greyish green appearance. The alternate leaf measures 5-14cms in length and 2-5cms wide and a dark glossy green above and silvery with fine hairs underneath , making an attractive contrast on windy days.
This tree reaches a height of 7-25 metres and width of 5-10 metres and the Red Ash a spreading shade.
